Therapy Dogs and Associates was formed in 1984 by Pat McDaniel Lacy. Pat has had over forty years of training and evaluating dogs. There are about thirty dogs of all ages and breeds in the group who have been selected by Pat based on their obedience skills and temperament. All of the dogs have completed obedience training classes and many have been recognized by the Therapy Dog International organization. All of the Associate members own their dogs and act strictly as volunteers. Every month the group visits patients in hospitals and nursing homes in the Richmond Virginia area.
